His timing is perfect.
I am a season in my life (and have been for a while), where God is calling me to wait. He has revealed things to me about my future, but now I need to wait patiently for his timing. When God calls you to wait for something, it can be really hard…speaking from experience! Some days I wake up super content and I’m like, “I’m doing great. I’m just gonna leave everything up to God…I don’t even care about waiting!” And literally the next day I could wake up being like, “seriously God, it’s about time ____ happened. It’s been long enough!” But over the past 2 years, in particular, God has taught me so so much in this season of waiting. He has taught me how to have patience, trust in him completely, and to step out in faith. And I have learned that the most important thing is the journey. The end destination is great, but we won’t actually be able to contain the promise or destiny if we don’t have the journey. God needs to grow us and build our character and strengthen us before we get there!
Sometimes we find it hard to be still and wait because we want the answer or the outcome from God now. And so often we trade what we want most for what we want now. It is so important to remember that God has perfect timing, and he will NEVER withhold a good gift from his children. Rest in that promise! If it’s the best thing for you now, God will give it to you now. And if it is not the best thing for you now, God will not give it to you now! It can be hard when you think you know the right timing…but we need to remember that we aren’t God, and we don’t know everything. I promise God has the absolute best for you! And if that requires waiting, then that’s what you need to do.
Now don’t get me wrong, waiting isn’t all bad. Yes, it can be hard, especially when God has revealed to you what comes next and you just want to do the next thing! But you need to embrace the journey and embrace the season you are in because otherwise, you will miss all the amazing things God is doing in this season!
I was going to write a separate blog post on, “it doesn’t make sense…”, but I feel like what I want to say ties in with what I’m saying here. You know, I have often found that what God is saying doesn’t make sense. When God speaks, it isn’t always obvious. In the Bible, Jesus often spoke in parables, and so what he said didn’t make sense to the majority of the people listening. You see, Jesus doesn’t always explain what he is doing. Sometimes he just leaves us hanging, and sometimes it doesn’t make sense. But the battle in our mind of confusion can very easily stop us from loving the journey we are on! Don’t respond to the doubt. Believe that God has spoken and that he will fulfil his promises in his perfect timing.
Luke 1:45 says, “blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her.”
Luke 1:37 says, “For no word from God will ever fail.”
I recently read a book called, “God-sized dreams” by Holly Gerth. It was an amazing book and I really recommend it, but I just wanted to share something she wrote about waiting:
“It sounds exciting to ‘do the next thing’ when that next thing is interesting. But if we can’t put the pieces of the puzzle together, we may scratch our head and wonder, ‘how is this drawing me closer to the object of my wait?’ Instead, we should evaluate how the wait is drawing us closer to the person of our faith.” –Holly Gerth
Psalm 27:14 says, “wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
God is always good and his timing is always perfect! If you’re in a season of waiting at the moment, trust that he has it all figured out!
